2012 will start out slowly. Mars, our planet of action, will go retrograde and keep us moving slowly from late January until mid-April. This can actually be good, because we still have plenty to get used to. The erratic energy of the planet Uranus in the raucous sign of Aries, left over from 2011, is enough; but we also are still getting used to the way Pluto wants to tear down our institutions during its long visit to Capricorn, which started in 2008. Neptune will shift from Aquarius to Pisces this year, on February 3, 2012. Let's allow Mars to push us more into the mode of moving more slowly than usual while we assimilate these shifts.
After Mars' retrograde is over, the planets will begin to make configurations that are certain to be anything but dull and boring. Pluto's urgings for lasting change will be in a tense, irritating square with the planet Uranus' hair-trigger impulse toward the concept of "revolution." Although this is a very tempting time to tear everything down because we're so disappointed with what our society has to offer, it is not a time to throw the baby out with the bath water. Perhaps the time has come for change, but we need to know what we will change "to" before we get all wild and radical.
These two drastic action-minded planets will be in exact square on these dates:
June 24, 2012
September 29, 2012
May 20, 2013
November 1, 2013
April 21, 2014
December 15, 2014
March 17, 2014
As you can see, this is a rather long period of time, and we'll be experiencing the uneasy, if exciting, feeling it lends to us over this time period. Expect more upheaval and discontentedness in society, and hope for solutions to our problems to be proposed and even put into place.
Jupiter switches signs about once a year, and it will move into Gemini on June 11th. Then, on June 25th, it will make a square to Neptune. This configuration could push people to go for a far-out idea in big ways. Being that it's 2012, expect someone, somewhere to be talking Armageddon and the end of the world or both. Although 2012 might feel like a time when a certain way of seeing planet Earth is ending, I like to believe that a new way is beginning. We as a civilization are in "spritual puberty" at the moment, thus the unease and angst at each and every turn.
June 24-30 could be 2012's most trying week, as the Jupiter-Neptune square comes one day after the exact Uranus-Pluto configuration. Saturn will also go into direct motion (come out of retrograde) on June 25th. Someone, somewhere will be "paying the piper." Please protect yourselves and your family so that it won't be you!
Saturn will move into Scorpio this Fall, on October 6th. Saturn is ill-at-ease in this deep and mysterious sign, so there could be more trouble hidden beneath the baseboards.
Venus will have a retrograde period this year, in the sign of Gemini from May 15th-June 29th. This normally manifests more on the personal level than the global one, but as it coincides with that active June 24-25 time, past financial actions and/or relationships that need work could be involved in world events.
Mercury will have its normal 3 retrograde periods, when we all tend to get frustrated at the way communications and mechanical devices don't seem to work as well as they usually do. The dates we may be putting money in the curse jar, and signs that will "hold" Mercury Retrograde in 2012 are:
March 12-April 4 (Aries and Pisces)
July 14-August 7-8 (Leo)
November 6-November 26 (Sagittarius and Scorpio)
